Every outdoor kitchen we build starts with a structural base that is engineered to last. Whether we are working with CMU block, steel stud framing, or poured concrete, the substrate is built to handle the weight of stone, appliances, and years of use without settling, cracking, or shifting.

Structural Materials

CMU Block: The most common substrate for outdoor kitchen structures. Strong, moisture-resistant, and fire-safe. We build a block-and-mortar frame with openings for appliances, access doors, and drawers, then face it with the stone or brick of your choice.

Steel Stud Framing: Lighter weight alternative for larger or more complex layouts. We use cement board sheathing over the steel frame before applying stone veneer.

Poured Concrete: For countertops and specialized structural needs, poured-in-place concrete is an excellent option. We can trowel-finish, exposed-aggregate finish, or tile concrete counters in the field.

Facing & Countertop Materials

Natural Stone Veneer: Ledgestone, river rock, fieldstone, and other natural stones create a timeless outdoor kitchen aesthetic. Handles heat, UV, and moisture well when properly installed with appropriate grout and sealers.

Brick: Traditional and highly durable. Face brick adds a classic warmth to outdoor kitchen islands. Low maintenance and stands up beautifully to Northern California climate.

Granite Countertops: The industry standard for outdoor kitchen counters. Heat-resistant, stain-resistant, and beautiful. We work with local stone fabricators to provide and install granite tops as part of our project scope.

Step 1: Free On-Site Consultation

Ronald Warren visits your backyard, walks the space with you, and listens to how you use it. Where does the evening sun hit? How many people do you typically cook for? Do you want a pizza oven, a bar, a fire feature, or all three? This conversation shapes the entire design. No templates - every outdoor kitchen we build is designed around your specific yard and lifestyle.

Step 2: Layout & Material Selection

We work with you to finalize the footprint, appliance placement, and facing materials. You will see material samples in person - actual stone, brick, or tile on the same surface you will be touching every weekend. We coordinate countertop options with local fabricators and present a detailed written estimate before any work begins.

Step 3: Foundation & Structure

Every outdoor kitchen starts with a solid foundation. Depending on the build, we either prep an existing slab, core new footings, or pour a dedicated pad. The structural frame - CMU block, steel stud, or combination - is built to carry the weight of stone, appliances, and decades of use without settling or cracking.

Step 4: Stone, Tile & Countertops

This is where the project transforms. We apply the stone veneer, brick facing, or tile to the structure, working methodically to ensure every joint, pattern, and corner is set to perfection. Countertop slabs are templated, fabricated, and installed once the masonry is complete and cured.

Step 5: Utility Coordination

Gas lines, plumbing, and electrical connections are coordinated with licensed trade partners. We sequence the masonry work so utility rough-ins happen at exactly the right point in the build - not as an afterthought. We have established relationships with licensed gas contractors and plumbers who specialize in outdoor kitchen connections.

Step 6: Appliance Install & Walkthrough

Once all trades are complete, appliances are installed and tested. Ronald walks you through the completed outdoor kitchen, explains care and maintenance for your specific materials, and does not leave until you are 100% satisfied.
